The
National
Photographic Challenge is
designed to serve the common
good of all Dominican nationals,
even those in the Diaspora, and
the visitors who stay for
lengthy enough periods to
participate.
Photography,
under Visual Arts has in recent
years recieved some favours
similar to fellow industries
under the Creative Industries
umbrella. It is still
unfortunate though that while
Artistes/Painters and musicians
are well on their way with
representation, image creators
like photographers,
videographers and designers are
yet properly represented, and
therefore as we seek to bring
the level of the craft to higher
standards among beginners to the
established professionals, we
also take on the mantle to
introduce a representative body
in the form of an Association or
Society, who would take on the
responsibility to educate in the
areas of the Business of the
Industry, and the legal rights
of artists in the respective
fields.
We look
forward to having multiple
Photography Clubs originate from
the schools, and we have very
good reason to believe that
every school shall establish a
Photo Club, and the general
Student Membership shall be
granted membership in the
Association/Society.
Ethical
concerns, Intellectual Property
Rights and Licensing shall
recieve great attention from the
soon to be established
representative body.
